Job Summary:
Our client in Ottawa, Ontario is looking for a Mechanical Technologist specialising in Building Systems to join their team!
This individual will work on commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. This individual must be skilled in mechanical building system design. They must also be adept at preparing design drawings using AutoCad and Revit, mentoring junior to intermediate staff, and be excited at the opportunity to find solutions to design challenges.

Job Duties:
• Working with a design team across all offices as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary Project Team
• Applying fundamentals and engineering tools to design piping, ductwork and related systems
• Completing site work and assisting with contract administration during construction
• Preparing mechanical bid and construction drawings and documents
• Assisting with project execution during all project phases
• Coordinating with other engineering disciplines, architects and sub-consultants on multidisciplinary projects
• Communicating effectively with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders
• Mentoring of junior and intermediate technologists, and EITs
Qualifications:
• Mechanical Technology Diploma from an accredited institution
• CET designation or eligibility to register with OACETT
• 5-10+ years of experience
• Proficiency in the current versions of AutoCAD/ Revit
• Good understanding of drafting principals and standards
• Knowledgeable with the design methodology of mechanical building systems, including layout of piping and ductwork
• Applied knowledge of the following standards and design guidelines as a minimum: ASHRAE, SMACNA, ACGIH, NFPA, OBC, NBC
• Excellent analytic, oral, and written communication skills. Bilingualism (English/French) would be considered an asset
• Driven self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment
• Valid Driver’s License
