Job Summary:

Our client in Toronto, Ontario is seeking an Operations Leader for their Buildings Group.

This individual will be responsible for development of annual operating budgets and the preparation and implementation of the group’s business plan, with a primary focus on achieving the group’s financial and operating objectives and maintaining an engaged and passionate team of industry-leading staff and highly satisfied clients. The Operations Leader is also expected to consult and/or participate in significant proposals and projects undertaken within the group.

The Operations Leader will be vital in driving critical business processes, ensuring operational excellence, and supporting the company’s growth in the Ontario market and the Buildings practice at large

Job Duties:

•    Achieve and surpass operational and financial objectives
•    Develop the annual operating budget
•    Foster collaboration across business lines and regions
•    Work closely with our Project Managers to oversee asset management activities related to invoicing of Work in Progress (WIP) and ensuring timely payment of Accounts Receivable
•    Recruit, attract, grow, retain and inspire talented employees
•    Implement company policies and strategies
•    Develop a culture of H&S and achieve all related leading and lagging H&S performance indicators
•    In partnership with the Sector Leaders, achieve marketing and business development objectives and associated costs
•    Proposal preparation/consultation and professional fee negotiation and scheduling
•    In collaboration with the architecture and engineering Discipline Leaders, achieve the technical quality and project management objectives of the business
•    Monitor and schedule project workload and allocation of resources for projects
•    Coach, mentor, and develop employees
•    Identify and develop future leaders
•    Work together with other leaders to represent Buildings and the company within the Ontario market and beyond
•    Achieve and maintain compliance with corporate policies


•    Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Buildings Engineering
•    Professional registration in buildings related field: OAA (Ontario Association of Architects) or P.Eng (Professional Engineers of Ontario)
•    15 years of experience in the planning and execution of building projects
•    Significant experience in a senior operational capacity
•    A thorough understanding of the Architectural and Buildings Engineering design industry and local market
•    Significant knowledge in the marketing, design, project management and contract administration of successful buildings projects
•    Solid leadership, financial management, communication and team building skills
•    Prior consulting and operational experience within the Architectural and Buildings Engineering industry
•    Established client and agency contacts are desirable
•    Proven ability to articulate their vision to ensure business success
•    Travel will be required 20% of the time to various offices in Southern Ontario, including throughout the GTA
