Job Summary:


Our client, recognized as a member of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies and one of the largest construction companies in the country, is seeking a Business Development Manager for their Buildings Group in Vancouver, British Columbia.

This individual would be responsible for managing and building a relevant network of business contacts and leveraging that network to identify, pursue, and secure new opportunities essential to the organizational growth and expansion of the company.

As a member of the Buildings group, you will provide insight and innovative construction solutions to ensure the successful execution of various commercial projects, such as: education facilities; hospitals and healthcare centres; office buildings; warehouse and distribution centres; retail outlets and complexes; recreational facilities; hotels and casinos; parkades; and mixed- use facilities. You will also further hone your skills operating under various delivery methods including Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3 (Public-Private Partnership), Construction Management and IPD (Integrated Project Delivery).

Job Duties:


•    Support and develop the Vancouver Buildings business development strategy to achieve Regional Business Plan vision and targets
•    Develop and maintain h2 relationships with strategic client representatives
•    Leverage existing contacts to drive new business opportunities and develop relationships
•    Research and develop industry networks with key influencers and leaders of corporate business, governments, architectural and engineering firms
•    Provide the leadership team with up to date market trends and ongoing analysis of the current business environment and develop business development strategy to strategically focus on market opportunities and trends
•    Populate and maintain a common business development database containing project and client opportunities and information
•    Manage, develop and monitor Client Feedback processes
•    Continue development and improvement of company brand and reputation within the region
•    Be the leader for the establishment of bids / proposals, leveraging both internal and external resource
•    Work closely with estimating and operations teams to develop h2 construction and technical solutions for clients
•    Draft unique and complex proposal packages
•    Manage a Business Development support team
•    Create, monitor and adhere to business development budgets

Qualifications:


•    10+ Years of technical experience in estimating and / or project management in commercial buildings general contracting is required
•    Proven track record of business development success with an excellent reputation in the Greater Vancouver Region
•    3+ years of experience managing and leading teams
•    A high performer who gains the trust and wins the respect of prospective clients, existing clients and colleagues by demonstrating technical knowledge
•    Knowledge of construction/procurement processes, and a commitment to culture, quality and delivery
•    Excellent negotiation skills are essential
•    An understanding of commercial construction costing, techniques and best practices
•    A general knowledge of the real estate and development markets
•    An established network of clients, realtors, consultants, developers and landowners
