Job Summary:
Our client is an established Engineering Consulting firm consisting of over 100 leading consultants, designers, technicians and project managers working with top tier architects, owners, developers, government and community stakeholders to deliver high level Structural Engineering and Building Science solutions across Canada. Due to growth and a surge for their services, we are seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer who would be tasked for project, design and drawing specifications for various projects within their thriving Structural Engineering group. The successful candidates would either hold a current designation as a Professional Engineer or be eligible (EIT).
Job Duties:
Conduct field investigations
Prepare reports, analysis and design, plans, details and specifications for additions/modifications/renovations to residential, commercial and industrial buildings
Provides structural design and technical support for structures including structural steel, reinforced concrete, precast concrete and timber
Prioritize and deliver multiple small projects, from beginning to end, with minimal supervision
Liaise with clients, design team consultants and contractors to ensure all project work is compliant with the design documents, while ensuring the projects will be delivered on time and on budget
Uses initiative and judgment to resolve problems, interprets engineering specifications, investigates design and field engineering difficulties and co-ordinates work schedules
Some knowledge of related disciplines/fields of engineering is required
Work with Senior Engineers taking direction as/when required
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or equivalent; eligibility for P.Eng. registration in Ontario
Minimum four years design experience in steel, concrete and wood
Knowledge of Canadian building and design codes is required
Proficient in SAP2000, SAFE and Structure Point design analysis software
Proven ability in preparing reports, specifications, and drawing packages for small to mid-size structural jobs
Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
Ability to work autonomously within a team-oriented environment
Construction engineering and project management experience in a consulting environment is an asset
